Title: Second Opinion
Fandom: Star Trek: TOS
Character: McCoy
Prompt: 11. Faith
Words: 100

“Am I gonna die?”

“Your life lies in the hands of the gods,” said the shaman, his expression grim. “Pray to them while there is still time.”

It took every ounce of McCoy’s diplomatic strength to keep his mouth shut instead of chastising the priest about his lack of bedside manner. It wasn’t that McCoy didn’t believe in a higher power. He’d been born and raised in the Deep South Bible belt, after all. But his greatest faith was in himself and his medical knowledge.

“While you’re waiting for divine intervention to call back, mind if I have a look?”
