"You’re not serious!" challenged Martha.
"Of course I’m serious. I’m always serious!" The Doctor paused, then amended, "Well, almost always. Hard to tell the difference sometimes."
"But you can’t use that!" Martha jabbed a finger at the blinding white ball of crystal light on its spire. "Not now!"
"Why not? We’re here. No time like the present, when you’re in it. The present, I mean."
"But its New Year’s Eve! Millions of people are waiting for that ball to drop at midnight!"
The Doctor shrugged. "I hate waiting," he said as he threw the switch for the TARDIS tractor beam.
