Sequels Are Big

Jan 02, 2011 15:01

I heard somewhere that in 2011, the Sequel will be BIG, especially in movies. Scream 4, Cars 2, Sherlock Holmes 2, etc. etc.

Sequels are already huge in YA books. One of the things a YA writer will inevitably get again and again once her book is published is this question: "Are you going to write a sequel?" because most YA books nowadays are part of ( Read more... )

I'll fly to your book signing if you'll write Fair Nail.

Fairy Jail, on the other hand, sounds like the perfect title for a no-budget adult film. I'd be more than happy to collaborate on the screenplay, but I don't think authoring that particular script will help your YA career.

Har, Fairy Nail/ Fairy Tail/ Fairy Jail are probably all a little too seedy for the YA market.

I was at a bookstore the other day with my 10 year old daughter and she found Fairytale and brought it to me. I read the inside cover and found it interesting but I didn't buy it (couldn't afford it and the 4 other books my daughter wanted). She went back two days later with her grandmother and bought it as a suprise. I have to tell you that I thought it was such a good book! I really loved it. I had to laugh at your blog because I am definitely one of those people who gets wrapped up in characters and I instantly start casting the actors that would play them if they made a movie based on the book. My daughter, Parker and I agree that this would be such a great ABC family film! We love those! I normally don't comment on blogs but when you said you would probably never write a sequel I was disappointed. The one thing that kind of made me sad was that Cam became just a faint memory. Maybe one day you'll reconsider bringing Cam and Morgan back together( maybe Morgan gets sick and he's watched her all this time so he comes back to save ( ... )

Thank you SO much. I am so glad you and Parker liked FAIRY TALE and that you took the time to let me know. And thank you for suggesting that it be a film and giving me suggestions on the sequel! I have to confess I have thought about it a bit more seriously than I stated in my journal entry, and though I am working on other books, who knows? It may happen one day. I actually love your idea of Morgan getting sick and Cam having to save her! Again, your comments really made my day and thank you for being a fan. It means so much to me. XO, Cyn

Thanks for writing back! That's was so nice! Parker and I have our fingers crossed for a sequel. Meanwhile, I'm sure we'll be having a great time reading your other books!
Thanks
Jodie and Parker

Okay now I want a trilogy--one where Morgan gets sick and he has to help her (great idea!) AND the whole time I was reading it, I was waiting for the big WHY Morgan could do those things. Yeah, Pip assumed she was an Enchantress but I figured either a) that wasn't accurate or b) that there is a great story there for her. How being an Enchantress affects her life and growing powers or something. Anyway, GREAT read, loved loved loved it! I think I am going to do a Book Spotlight on it on my blog tomorrow :-)

Thank you so much! I am so glad you liked it. And you are right, maybe there should be something more behind Morgan's powers, some reason for it. Now you have me thinking more... Hmmmm....

Anyway, thanks for the kind words! I would love if you could blog about it!! That would be awesome!!

Hello, ms. Cyn! I started reading your book "fairy tale" yesterday and finished it today. I soooo loved it! If I didn't have work, kids and errands to do I would've finished it in a few hours (I'm such a bookworkm) I got sucked in your story, page after page anticipating what would happen next. I fell in love with them so much... One of my treasured books to add to my collection(sigh) Now I found out you are not making a sequel (my heart is bleeding)... I hope they make this into a movie! Morgan is a funny gal and Cam is sooooo sweet esp. with their one, two, three... aaww.... It was such a sad ending (I actually cried, in our van while waiting for my son to come out from school) yet I'm happy Pip had taken Cam's place in the end, he was also too sweet...

I am about to read sleepless now, can't wait. More power to your writing and hopefully our books will become movie adaptations as well (Who am I kidding? books are the greatest!)

God bless you....

I finished Sleepless 2 days after fairytale and I was very happy at the ending of sleepless (oopsie, I almost spilled heheee) Yeah, you are an amazing writer, like seriously I hope you would have more great books coming up! I'd be on the lookout for sure. And yeah, when I cry that means it's a great book. Fairytale will be on my shelf forever. I started to do the one, two, three fingers to my husband (LOL) It's just too cute.... I still have a fever from reading it. Thank you!!
