I've never had that special joy -- being a mom. I suppose I never will, either. I think it takes very special women to become moms...
But I've experienced EVERYTHING you described above being a nanny for many, many years. And I've taken care of children in one form or another since I was a child. (At ten I used to baby sit three kids -- twins and their baby sister. I'd been taking care of babies for years by then...)
I'm proud of my friends who are mothers -- people like YOU.
And I'm proud that I know so much about those feelings -- and the work that goes with it -- even though I've never been a mom myself.
*hugs* If you have cared for them, you have become a mom in your own right. People can pop babies out, but it takes a special someone to be able to handle all the "fun" stuff - like watching the nurses try to insert a catheter.
At work, I have a mom. She is everything I need in a mom, but she has never given birth.
*hugs* so I definately consider you one of the "moms" *hugs*
I don't know you, but I totally agree with Cyn. Nannies (I was one for roughly 13 years before I started having kids of my own) are moms. They really are - you're a mom because you do the mom things, you take care of and help raise a child, and that's what being a mom is. *hug*

And for the record, no one should ever have to hold their baby down for a catheter into them. It just isn't right! *cries*
