I believe I have officially broken my record for longest hiatus taken from blog-writing, save for those few times in high school and early college when I hadn't anything particularly interesting to say and so I kept dropping old journals, waiting a long time, then starting new ones

You're right, 2008 has been kind of a hard year for some reason. I'm glad to hear that you have hope though!
