Food Porn - Calzones
Oh my word. Thats all I have to say about the dinner I made tonight!!
I made these!!
They are 100% made from scratch too. The dough, the tomato sauce inside, everything. They are mushroom calzones and they are absolutely gorgeous. I made them from Jamie Oliver's recipe in his Jamie At Home book. I love that book. Predominantly vegetarian, and anything thats not is easily converted.
It took me about two hours from start to finish, but it was definitely worth it. It was my first successful bash at making pizza dough (even if I did use self-raising instead of plain and made them twice as big as they should have been!) and also tomato sauce. I bought dried shitake and portabello mushrooms, although I dunno that I would use them again. Maybe I didnt soak them enough, but they were kinda tough and chewy and I dont think mushrooms should be that way.
I made one hell of a mess in the kitchen but I think it was worth it. I now have enough calzones to feed me for the next month! lol
