Ah, Cleveland in April

Friday was the home opener. Given that it snowed on Thursday and snowed most of Friday, my coworkers were dubious when I told them that I was going to the game. The consensus was that [A] I was completely nuts and [B] the game would be cancelled. I probably can't argue with [A], but they were dead wrong on [B ( Read more... )

You had a drunk jump on the field too!!! That happened on Monday at the Twins home opener, perhaps some drunk fool felt he could get some ESPN coverage from that :) One good thing about the Dome, as much as it sucks, it's still covered!

You are insane.

I admire that.

And I'm not even a Tribe fan. Imagine what I'd do if the Oakland A's were in town.

If you were at the A's home opener, I can pretty much guarantee it would not have been called for snow.

I saw it got snowed out like that - really disappointed me. Didn't know about today's games, but how awful!

A little fact checking showed that the last time it was snowed out was 2003, which was the only home opener I've missed since 2001. That time I had to travel for work.

Who would think it was probably nicer in North Dakota then Cleveland in April... and now your "home opener" is in Milwaukee...

Oh, suuuuure you do... Just like the 150,000-some people who claim they have ticket stubs to Paul Byrd's perfect game. ;)

Not to mention the roughly 5 million New York / New Jersey residents who swear they saw Springsteen at some tiny club on the beach in the late 1970s.

Yeah, well, I actually was sitting at the 50-yard line beneath Touchdown Jesus for the legendary Catholics vs. Convicts Notre Dame/Miami matchup. But we don't even have a souvenir program to show for it because we were late getting into the stadium (due to it being necessary to follow the marching band across campus - you can take the boy away from ND, but you can't take ND out of the boy) and, not wanting to miss the kickoff, I assured John that we could easily get one at halftime.

Not a vendor to be found, and after it was over there was NO getting one. John never quite forgave me for that.

But having the opportunity to attend Notre Dame football only three times ever, I figure I did pretty darned well, being there for the "greatest victory in ND history."

And I have no souvenir to prove it.

I suspect I am the only person on my friends list who would recognize the term 'Catholics vs Convicts' without a matching wiki entry.
