After much hassle, the leaky faucet has been repaired, Except that now the pipes underneath the sink leak (very slightly) if the sink is on for a long time. Argh! I'm not sure what I broke there (or maybe it was doing it before?), but it is a lot better than it was before I started working on it.
With that, here is the "home repair type things to do around the house" list, mostly for my own benefit:
Massively expensive items.
- Fix leak in roof over kitchen. Replace dry wall in kitchen ceiling.
Garage items.
- Clean out garage and throw away crap last owner left here.
- Install automatic garage door openers on both garage doors. Run safety cable through springs.
- Install motion sensor light over garage.
Foliage Items.
- Spray weeds on driveway and sidewalks.
- Pull weeds from flowerbeds. Put down wood chips over flower beds.
- Trim back bushes, especially the ivy by the driveway.
- Take pictures of bushes and plants and see if anyone can identify them for me.
Indoor Items.
- Get locks replaced.
- Hang up fire alarms.
- Get felt feet covers for dining room set and other furniture on the hard wood floors.
- Buy new dishwasher.
- Get chimney swept and inspected.
- If leak in sink persists, get plumber out to look at it.
- Replace plastic dryer venting hose with metal venting.
Buy stuff.
- Buy push broom.
- Buy two snow shovels.
- Buy leaf rake.
- Buy small hand gardening tools.
- Buy hose & watering can (per request of xhollydayx) (and sprinkler?)
- Buy power cords.
- Buy pirate flag!
That's everything I can think of at the moment. Right now, my decision to buy a house instead of a condo is looking really bad. I can't wait until it snows again and covers up all the things on the outside of the house that irritate me. The inside annoys me much less, probably because the really major things that need to be done there are mostly the kind of things that need to be done by a contractor, so it's easier to rationalize waiting on them.
