We have now reached the midpoint of the
Supper Club meal we hosted on Saturday. With our
the third course out of the way, it was time to cleanse our palate again, this time with some more wine.
Pascal Jolivet: Pouilly Fume (France, 2005)
This white wine had a very strong, almost pungent taste that overwhelmed the garlic residue in my mouth and forced me to pay attention to it. Tasty, and quickly consumed.
Some of you may wonder what Tulip the fuzzy overlord was doing during all this. After being quickly introduced to the horde of new people who had invaded her domain, she was contained in the master bedroom during the meal. Once we hit desert she was allowed to come forth to greet her subjects, who responded appropriately with ear scratches, belly rubs, wrestling and the occasional treat. She was very well behaved.
Sadly, she isn't always so cordial. Last week, she pronounced doom upon my slipper, with predictable results.
I liked these slippers so much that I had gotten them fixed twice, but I suspect that fixing this damage would not be cost effective. Oh well, at least I still have one slipper left.
Tomorrow: Baked Bell Peppers and Banderdillas
