Cheeses 2009

Jan 16, 2009 23:14

We eat lots of good cheese. We thought it was time to keep track of it all, so xhollydayx pulled out a notebook and started writing it down. Here's the list so far this year.

1. Miti Blue (Spain) - Made with sheep's milk. A creamy blue with spicy hints. 4.5/10.

2. Rogue Chocolate Stout (Oregon) - Very soft cheddar, very creamy, nice finish. Almost can't tell that it's a cheddar. 7/10 me, 8/10 her.

3. Mirabo (Germany) - Soft creamy cheese with walnuts. I found it to be very unimpressive. 5/10 me, 7/10 her.

4. Roaring 40s Blue (Australia) - Excellent on salads (9/10), average on its own (5/10).

5. Black Diamond Cheddar (Canadian) - White cheddar made with raw milk. Sharp taste, tangy. Nothing special but a good baseline cheddar and perfectly acceptable, 6/10. xhollydayx gave it 5/10. We used most of it in chorizo puffs.

6. Cheese pianodan and drdingbat brought, whose name I'm sure they'll leave in the comments. Cheddar (?) washed in red wine. Very pale color. Interesting and quite unique taste; I can't recall having anything quite like it before. 8/10.

That screaming sound you here is my cholesterol level being tortured.
