Hosted Supper Club

Feb 25, 2009 22:08

Our turn to host Supper Club came up again. What with one thing and another, this was only the sixth Supper Club held in the ten months since we hosted our Tapas night back in May of 2008. Here's the list:

July 26, 2008 - The Don and sparklie_lady - Summer Grill Fest. We dined al fresco.

September 13, 2008 - darlox and gieves - Pixie Dust & Cellulose. A disturbingly science based meal with interesting textures and reactions. Pop rocks cheesecake for the win.

October 4, 2008 - indy_was_here and stampinmak - Oktoberfest. We dined al fresco... in October. It was chilly. Fortunately, there was a great quantity of home prepped sausage.

November 22, 2008 - butterandjelly - About the Boot. Italian cuisine, garlic heavy.

January 31, 2009 - AM and CGM - One Night In Marrakech. This was the first supper club that we missed, as xhollydayx was in the ER that night. Alas. Since a number of other people couldn't make it, I call for a repeat :-)

February 21, 2009 - cynic51 and xhollydayx. Sit at the Big Kids Table. Our theme was kids food remixed, which is to say a standard kids item tarted up for Supper Club. Over the next few days I'll be elaborating on the recipes for each of items served. Here is the menu to whet your appetite.

First Course

Mojito Jello Shots
Apples w/Truffle Honey
Cheesy Prosciutto Puff Pastry Rounds

Second Course

Baked Chicken Strips
Thick and Velvety Spicy Tomato Soup
Crostini

Third Course

Macaroni & Cheese

Fourth Course

Grown-Up Milk & Cookies

Incidentals

Sprecher Root Beer, Cream Soda and Ginger Ale
Danzante Pinot Noir (2007, Italy)
Donnigan Hills Chardonnay (2007, U.S.)
White Grape Juice

Conclusions

Including ourselves, we had 9 total attendees at $20/head.
CF & JF (and LF, but < 12 week olds don't eat much)
darlox and gieves
katspaw156 and 1em
indy_was_here

Although it wasn't as clear cut of a success as our last hosting effort, everyone left full. Many took leftovers with them, which I suppose could be interpreted as a failure or as a success. Certainly nobody was complaining :-)

hosting supper club, supper club, who hosted supper club?
