Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby Live in My Living Room!

Mar 14, 2013 23:32

EDIT April 3 2013 - This show has been cancelled. Details.

----------------------------------------------

Apparently the route to hosting a house concert is to let my good friend Ed of Chasing Infinity find awesome people to play in my living room. After hooking me up with Jeremy Messersmith, Ed delivered again when he put me in touch with Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby. As a direct result of their actions, they'll be playing my living room on Thursday, May 9.

Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased via PayPal. Unfortunately, linking directly to the ticket site isn't working for me, so go to Amy's site, scrolling down the tour listing to Lakewood and clicking on the PayPal 'Buy Now' link next to the concert listing. Attendance will be capped at 30 people, so we advise you to buy your tickets in advance.

Not sure who Eric & Amy are? We can help you out with that.

A long time ago Wreckless Eric was one of the main acts on Stiff Records, where he had a small hit with "Whole Wide World", which you may remember from the film Stranger Than Fiction:

Amy Rigby was a member of The Shams and has had a critically acclaimed solo career with such albums as Diary of a Mad Housewife and Little Fugitive. I particularly like the song "Dancing With Joey Ramone":

Together Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby have put out three albums. Most recently they put out A Working Museum, which was funded with a successful Kickstarter back in July of 2012. Check out their video for "Do You Remember That":

You can buy their joint albums and Amy's solo albums on her site. You can also check out Wreckless Eric's site. You can follow them both on Twitter:

They also did Daytrotter session that you might find interesting.

We've also got an invite up on Facebook with more details. Invite your friends!

Let's see, what else? BYOB. I will probably provide ice cream novelties. Tulip the friendly dog lives here so bring your allergy meds if you need them. Chairs are limited in number; feel free to bring one or a giant pillow. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments and we'll get back to you.
