When I wrote up my 2014
baseball year in review I said I was going to try for three parks in 2015. I have now purchased my plane tickets and have solid dates for those park visits. Even better, the games I'll be seeing at these parks will cover all four of the teams that I have never seen in person. On top of that I'll get to visit several friends, return to
the Grand Canyon, and quite possibly eat at
Bobcat Bites (since renamed to Santa Fe Bites) again. Here's the plan:
Satruday, April 18. Fly to Denver.
Sunday, April 19. Party in Denver.
Monday, April 20. Party in Denver. I'm aware that it's 4/20 and Colorado, but not that kind of party. Padres @ Rockies in the evening.
Tuesday, April 21. Drive to Santa Fe.
Wednesday, April 22. Drive to the Grand Canyon with stops in Winslow and Crater Monument, Arizona.
Thursday, April 23. Hike the Grand Canyon.
Friday, April 24. Hike the Grand Canyon.
Saturday, April 25. Drive to Phoenix. Pirates @ Diamondbacks in the evening.
Sunday, April 26. Hopefully hike Camelback Mountain. Drive to San Diego
Monday, April 27. Party in San Diego with Becky. Astros @ Padres.
Tuesday, April 28. Fly back home.
There's some flexibility in there in case some late April snow hits the roads, but this should be pretty solid and will get more solid as time goes on. I've got multiple friends in Denver, and more friends in Santa Fe, Phoenix and San Diego so I have plenty of people to visit.
For the Grand Canyon I had hoped to hike down to Phantom Ranch and back, but not surprisingly I was unable to get reservations. I settled for a room at the South Rim and a spot on the waiting list. If I manage to score Phantom Ranch, great. Otherwise I'll do some day hikes.
I will happily accept suggestions for things to do in Denver, San Diego and all points between.
