So since May of 2014 I've been heading up this cross-departmental project at work. I won't go into details, but basically we're trying to correct a problem that came up in our customer surveys. The problem is, alas, pernicious and identifying root causes has been difficult. I personally feel the success level has been sort of mixed. We've crushed the low hanging fruit, and I got managed to get one initiative through which will hopefully address one of the big issues (and lord, what a headache winning that battle was), but that initiative is sucking up a lot of the available resources that might otherwise address some of the smaller issues, and there are some underlying issues that are proving intractable thus far.
Throughout this process, pretty much everyone involved or tangential has talked about how well the team is doing. I'm not sure what it says about my psyche that I'm mostly frustrated by how much we haven't been able to do thus far, and how slow things are moving, while everyone else is happy about how well it's going. To cap it off, our CEO has a video blog. In last week's post my team as a whole was praised and I was personally called out as "doing a phenomenal job". Naturally, I'm curious as to what will happen if we actually succeed!
