With the start of the Fall 2016 semester, my radio show has been in the Sunday 2pm timeslot for ten years. I have been on Sunday afternoon for fourteen years. Time does fly by.
The fall 2016 semester also marks my sixth semester with my friend Colleen as a co-host. The latter five of those are with our current show "Delirium Without Walls." My co-host list now looks like this:
12 semesters - Shari
10 semesters -
ron06 semesters - Colleen
1 semester - T.P., Dr. Bovi, Jean, Sarah,
pussygalore66,
gieves,
infowidget I've also had a large number of APs (trainees). Chris in Fall of 2016 and Maria in Spring of 2016 are being joined in Fall of 2016 by Heather. The complete list:
Fall 1999 - Unknown Male AP. Missed the test.
Fall 2000 - AP Alex K. Passed, hosted a show until graduating.
Fall 2002 - AP Alex V. Passed, hosted a show until graduating.
Fall 2003 - AP Ben. Passed, but it was his last semester of school and he never hosted a show.
Spring 2004 - AP Danielle. Passed, hosted a show for a few semesters before leaving school.
Fall 2005 - AP Noelle. Passed. Helped out on Live From Cleveland before moving to the west coast.
Fall 2006 - AP Rebecca. Passed. Hosted a show until she moved to the west coast. She was my first and so far only AP who wasn't a student.
Fall 2007 - AP Bill. Missed the test.
Fall 2008 - AP Adam. Passed. Hosted a show until graduation. Now living in New Orleans.
Fall 2011 - AP Spenser. Passed even though we recommended against it. Had a show for one semester and then was not renewed.
Fall 2012 - AP Charlie. Passed. Hosted a show for a few semesters.
Fall 2013 - AP Miruna. Passed. Hosted a show up until she graduated.
Fall 2014 - AP Chris. Passed, currently hosting a show.
Spring 2015 - AP Maria. Passed, currently hosting a show.
Fall 2015 - AP Heather. We shall see...
It's sort of amazing that after fifteen APs not one of them has stuck around after graduation.
I've also done many different genres over the years:
28 - Freeform
6 - Showtunes & Soundtracks
5 - Classical & Freeform
3 - Weekly Theme & Freeform
2 - Blues & Freeform
1 - Punk & Ska, Ska & Freeform, Punk & Freeform, Jazz & Freeform, Country & Freeform, Live Recordings & Freeform, Electronic & Freeform
That's 51 total shows in 50 semesters (I had one semester with two shows back in college).
If I wanted to "build a brand" I've done it all wrong. I've changed genres frequently and done freeform (meaning anything) when I didn't have a genre. Thanks in part to the large number of co-hosts and partially to how often I got bored and switched genres, I've had 21 different names for my show over the years out of a possible 51 shows. The show names have changed frequently. I've had many co-hosts, I don't like taking requests, and generally I'm doing it for me. Fortunately, I don't want to be radio famous!
None of this counts my semester as an AP. If I added that, T.P. would be my co-host twice and The Spectator would be my co-host once. Punk & Ska would be on the genre list twice.
I've added a new tag,
radio show history for me to track these posts about my radio history.
