Jan 22, 2017 19:03

More food in Europe. Unless otherwise noted, chains include breakfasts at chain hotels.

183. Tuesday, August 25 - Breakfast at my chain hotel in Lyon.

184. Tuesday, August 25 - I had gelato for a mid-afternoon snack.

185. Tuesday, August 25 - I had dinner at a pizza joint called La Squadra Pizza (or some such thing).

186. Wednesday, August 26 - Breakfast at my chain hotel in Lyon.

187. Wednesday, August 26 - Ice cream from a shop in Montepellier.

188. Wednesday, August 26 - I had a kebab at a local halal shop. It wasn't anything special.

189. Thursday, August 27 - Breakfast in the garden of my fabulous cozy hotel in Montepellier.

190. Thursday, August 27 - I grabbed a slize of pizza at a chain place called Pizza Neapolitan.

191. Thursday, August 27 - bart_calendar and I had a beer at Bistro Victoria.

192. Thursday, August 27 - bart_calendar and I had MANY beers at the Beehive.

193. Thursday, August 27 - I had a dinner filled with traditional foods from the area at a hole in the wall that bart_calendar recommended. It was very fattening.

194. Friday, August 28 - Another garden breakfast at my cozy hotel in Montpellier.

195. Friday, August 28 - bart_calendar and I had a beer at Bistro Victoria.

196. Friday, August 28 - bart_calendar and I had a mixed drink at Papa Doble, which has been rated as one of the best bars in the world.

197. Friday, August 28 - bart_calendar and I had MANY beers at the Beehive. This time we had food to go with it.

198. Saturday, August 29 - A final breakfast in the garden at the hotel in Montpellier.

199. Saturday, August 29 - For my first meal in Barcelona, I had a milkshake at a place called Maracuya in the old city.

200. Saturday, August 29 - mishamish, babymonkey and I had dinner at a beachfront seafood restaurant called Restaurante Silvestre. I believe this was the first of many paellas on the trip.

201. Saturday, August 29 - We had ice cream on the beach while overlooking the Mediterranean on a moonlit night. That's a pretty good dessert by any standard.

202. Sunday, August 30 - For the first time on the trip my hotel did not provide breakfast. I was on the move most of the day, but stopped for lunch somewhere along the way.

203. Sunday, August 30 - I had dinner at a curry place near my hotel that was chosen for proximity above all else. It was pretty average.

204. Monday, August 31 - I bought an ice cream for a mid-morning snack.

205. Monday, August 31 - I had ramen for lunch at a place called (I think) Tonkotsu.

206. Monday, August 31 - After a few false starts, mishamish, babymonkey and I were seated at a tapas placed called Loria. We had some very delicious small plates.

207. Monday, August 31 - Not much is open late at night on a Monday, so we stopped at Burger King for ice cream. Unlike Vincent, I have been in a Burger King in Europe.

208. Tuesday, September 1 - I had lunch at a place called the Alsur Cafe.

209. Tuesday, September 1 - I had dinner and some beer at the Travel Bar, which is run by ex-pats and was recommended to me by bart_calendar.

210. Wednesday, September 2. I had a bowl of gazpacho at Restaurant Marros.

211. Wednesday, September 2 - I had another paella at a place called Tapes Gaudi. Overpriced, but tasted good.

212. Wednesday, September 2 - Oh wait? The restaurant happens to be near Travel Bar? I guess I'll have another beer...
