As foretold
some years ago, and as foreshadowed even more clearly by the
leaks this past winter, I had to get a new roof on my house this year. The roofer's finished up last week, so now I have a new roof, plus new gutters and gutter guards, as well as some new attic venting.
I got a full tear off done, so I should be good for another 30 years or so. The only part of my roof that wasn't touched was the
always problematic porch / flat roof over the kitchen. Otherwise, every single shingle was replaced. The roofer found a bunch of damaged plywood, all of which was also replaced. He had strong words to say about the contractor who put the previous roof on (predating my ownership) and basically said they'd done a poor job or he wouldn't have had to replace so much plywood.
One problem with my house is that with all the decorative roof parts and weird angles the price for a new roof was a lot higher than it would have been if I had a nice simple roof with one angle. Such is life.
