After the slog that was the letter
'S', the six weeks it took to get through the letter 'T' felt like flying. You might say it fit me to a 'T'. Or you might not.
The only thing that really stands out about 'T' is that I found a really large percentage of the bands to be unusually good. There wasn't any real pattern, either, with the soaring vocals of Linda Thompson's first solo album, the weird novelty pleasure of Timbuk 3, the experimental sounds of Tortoise, and the angry political folk-rock of John Trudell. I think when I'm all done with the project, I might spend a week or two playing all the artists I marked as unusually good to see if I still agree.
8/25 - Tavares, Technotronic, 10cc
9/01 - 10 Years After / Alvin Lee, Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, +Linda Thompson
9/08 - Thunderclap Newman, +Timbuk 3, Too $hort
9/15 - Tornadoes, +Tortoise, The Toys,
9/22 - PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND
9/29 - The Tremeloes, +John Trudell, Dwight Twilley
Unsurprisingly, the letter 'U' is super short. I'm pretty confident that it will only take a single week. In fact, from here on out pretty much every letter is super short, which is what happens when you have six letters in 84 pages. That I actually think might be done by the fourth anniversary of this project in February. However, the longest portion remaining by far is the "bands that were in the last edition but aren't in this one", which is two pages of of agate type that will probably take longer to get through than most of the individual letters.
