I'm all caught up, and even better I'm back into some new recipes after
two increments without.
[1] I ate out five times, more or less.
- On February 22 I met my fraternity brothers Nate, Steve and Kenichi for brunch at the Beachland.
- That night I met
aiela and
theferrett at Mahall's for the MC Lars show. I had beer.
- On Thursday, February 27, I went to the Grog for the We Were Promised Jetpacks show. I didn't have any drinks at that show, but I did buy a slice of pizza at Guy's in Coventry on my way to the car.
- On Saturday, February 29, M and I had dinner at Barrio's in Cleveland Heights before going to Nighttown for the Cyrille Aimee concert. At the concert, I had a cup of hot tea and some ice cream.
If you count that slice of pizza as a meal (which is borderline), it looks like twice in a week, but the week prior I didn't eat out at all, so it's all good. The ice cream at Nighttown is similarly borderline, but since I couldn't drink alcohol that night since I'd given platelets earlier in the day, I'm treating that as a drink.

[2] I made five new recipes. That brings the total to 17. Most were from the March 2020 Eating Well, but the first one was a flashback to the January/February 2020 issue.
-
Antipasto Baked Smothered Chicken - I used turkey pepperoni for the salami. For once, I didn't burn something under the broiler. The artichoke/pepperoni topping was very tasty on top of the chicken, which got a little toughened up in the pan. Next time, I might do the chicken in the air fryer.
-
Chile-Lime Cauliflower Quesadillas - Due to a misreading of tortilla sizes, these actually became chile-lime cauliflower tacos. As such, they were tasty (tacos are always good), but not really what the recipe called for. I'll probably make them again as taco filling, because it was good and you can never have too many taco variants.
-
Old Bay Salmon with Lemony Mashed Peas - The peas in this recipe were a two thumbs up winner, and enough to merit making this again even if the salmon hadn't also been delicious.
-
Mashed Legumes with Onion, Capers & Radicchio (Sympetherio) - M really liked the red onion, radicchio and caper salad that was the base of this meal, but we both agreed that the legume topping was pretty boring. The legumes were time consuming to boot, and while I could probably speed it up in the Instant Pot, it wasn't worth it to me.
-
Egyptian Tossed Salad - Quick, easy, minimal oil in the dressing, very tasty. This recipe was a win and will probably go into heavy rotation. The leftovers went on top of a omelette.
