[1] I'm now up to
31 consecutive days without eating out, which obviously is my personal record as an adult and equally obviously is only happening because of the
pandemic.
31 days may also be my lifetime personal record, although that's harder to say for sure. As a kid in North Dakota we didn't eat out for dinner very often. At most, we'd go out once per month. However, we drove 75 miles down to Fargo every Sunday for Sunday school, and we usually got some kind of lunch before driving home, typically fast food or a cheap sit down place. Sunday School matched the school year, so in any given month that was four or five times eating out. Then by high school I would go with friends, especially after football games, so that number would have risen. It's possible that we had some summer months where we went more than 31 days without eating out, but given that we often traveled in the summer and out when we traveled, I sort of doubt I ever went more than 31 days without eating in a restaurant. That'll change this week.
When this lockdown ends, I'm genuinely curious how many of our favorite restaurants will still be around.

[2] I made one new recipe, bringing the yearly total to 27.
- Last May my coworker Sarah Y brought peanut butter cookies into work for the team. I brought my share home, and M really liked them, so I got the recipe. Yesterday I made a batch. They came out extremely well. I need to rewrite the recipe to be in a more logical order, but after that it'll go into the recipe binder.
To be perfectly honest, we haven't been doing a ton of cooking. We've got plenty to eat, but between a lack of fresh ingredients and neither of us being particularly hungry there's a been a lot of "quick and easy" things that barely count as a full meal. I've done some baking in addition to the aforementioned cookies, but the most time I spent looking at recipes was last Sunday when I cut up
all my Eating Well magazines from 2018 and 2019 and arranged the the newly cut out recipes in my binder. This whole process was made much easier by having a year of cooking notes. I know, high times, right?
My weight seems to have
stabilized around 205. Even the 35 mile bike ride I took yesterday didn't shift my weight, although to be fair I did eat a bunch of peanut butter cookies when I took a break.
