LiveJournal Posts by Year
For the first time in longer than I can recall, LiveJournal actually did something new, which resulted in this nice little stat block for 2020.
How does this compare to prior years? While I can't generate a pretty little stat block for them, I can count them manually. And thanks to the mid-year review I can easily give the 6 month total as well from 2010 onward.

I added all of these up and compared it to my post total today of 2117 (not counting 2021 posts) and was only off by one, which is pretty good for eyeballing it.
As you can see, the 151 posts I did this year is a distant second to the 204 posts in 2004. This, of course, was back when social media was new and exciting and all my friends were here and I had tons of one line posts. That kind of content has mostly been moved to Facebook, or more likely not posted at all anymore. Maturity has a few benefits.
I'm not completely clear when I switched to my current style of mostly longer posts about a specific topic. It was definitely after tags were rolled out as a feature in 2005 since I skimmed all the 2005 entries while writing my 2005 Concert Year in Review and there was still a lot of one liner posts and "potpourri posts" that covered many topics, not to mention posts asking friends if they wanted to do things. It probably wasn't until after I joined Facebook in 2009 that that kind of content moved over. If I ever do my long threatened "tag all my old posts" (it's only been four years now) maybe I'll figure it out.
For now, I'm happy to say "2020 was the modern record for posts," as in "posts someone might want to read in the future." I'm still here, and as long as I'm enjoying the writing, I'll be doing this somewhere, whether LiveJournal or elsewhere.
