wicked good

Melissa Ferrick was very good. One Boston girl with a guitar, overtly lesbian but not overtly political. I would not even mention the lesbian thing except that it explans why there were like 3 straight guys there, and that includes the soundman and the merch guy. Anyway, her music was very much in the same vein as Liz Phair or Sarah Harmer solo. Clever lyrics, good but not great guitar, one hell of a lot of energy. Her closing number was a 20 minute jam which discussed, among other things, the best way to make a woman scream with pleasure ( I took notes :-), the Boston Red Sox winning the Series and a lot of other things. Outstanding stuff. She was, as they say in Boston, wicked good. Not sure I would see her again, but I will check out her CDs at the station.
