I continue to read through the
entire Hellblazer archive. As of today, I've finished 16 of the 26 trade paperbacks in the reissue series that started in 2011. I ran into another good memory quote. This one was written by Brian Azzarello.
Maybe yer memory? It sifts through all the garbage -- good and bad, and hangs onto the shit that could help you out down the road.
From Hellblazer #169: Chasing Demons. Spoken by some random bloke in a bar. Written by
Brian Azzarello.
I don't want anyone to think I'm just copying down any quote I run into that is about memory. In fact, while I like this particular quote, it continued with three more sentences that I didn't bother including because it kind of misses the point of memory, in my opinion. You might reasonably argue that selectively leaving out parts of the quote changes the context, but hey, you can go start your own journal of memory quotes if that bothers you.
Future self will wonder what the rest of the quote was, so here it is future self. So that yer past? Really only means something in relation to yer future. Memory's a crazy devil -- but it keep us sane.. I dislike this because if you have no future (old age, terminal illness, whatever) your past is still relevant. We'll see what future self thinks.
