[1] M found Birdie a push tricycle via buy nothing a few weeks ago. Birdie is in love with it. Basically every night this week we've gone outside so she can ride her bicycle around the neighborhood, and she was upset this morning when we told her she couldn't bike outside in the rain. After two days bumming around San Francisco, my last two full days of the trip took me first to Oakland, then to Marin County, Berkley and back to Oakland again. The morning after the longest, wettest, coldest day of the Tour looked pretty much as cold and wet as it had been the day before. We had breakfast and took a van up to the start of the trail. First though, we had to visit a cheese creamery. Well, ok then, twist my arm!

You wouldn't know it from my cheese posts, but my employer has an entire case full of deli cheeses. We sell an awful lot of them, which means I'm fully checked out on the big industrial deli slicers. The slicers are pretty cool in that new ones cost upwards of $20,000 (or so I'm told). It's ok though, if taken care of they last literally forever. ( Read more... )

Last Saturday I went to gieves's and darlox's annual bbq. This year they made a fantastic beef brisket, which was easily as good as anything they've ever made, and that's saying something.

56. Gaperon d'Auvergne. This cheese is from the south of France. It's made with raw cow's milk, and has bits of garlic and black pepper in it.
