Hmm, I hope I get that campus library job soon, I hate mah current job :/
Anyways, how long did it take from applying to getting the job for you?

Story is: I worked there before, and recently ran into one of my old coworkers. He said they were really short on people and should work there again. I said 'ok', and walked over there inbetween classes. Hung out and talked with them a bit, got caught up, and got an email a few hours later saying I was hired.

Originally, it took about 2 weeks.

Ubuntu is a pretty good transitional OS - very familiar with Windows, and there's a special build for low-end machines

Like dogan said, ubuntu is a pretty good flavor of linux to get going with. Check out the link he provided, it should run pretty well on there.
