Religion?: Athiest, but not Anti

I find it interesting that you accuse religion of inciting hatred and bloodshed, but then claim to not be "anti-religion."

I think Islamo-fascism has incited plenty of hatred and violence and I don't just say that i don't believe in it, I say that I am against it, and that as a belief system it is morally wrong.

I'm not against religion. It's everyone's right to worship, should they choose to do so, and there's nothing wrong with a group of people worshipping and praying to a higher being. I'm against what it's turned into, an excuse to hate and kill people. Just like I hate what our democracy's turned into, but not the founding principles of our country.

Do you think this transformation is new?

People have been killing in the name of God since the beginning of time.

I'm curious how you reconcile being a socialist with your admiration of "the founding principles of this country," which were by no means socialist.

Socialism and Democracy are both good ideas. As is Communism - it just doesn't work in practice. Democracy I feel doesn't work in America because the bulk of the nation just doesn't care about the government and is completely fine with accepting whatever propaganda they're stuffing down our throats this week. They don't bother to vote, because those in charge of the country change our lives so gradually and so slyly that they don't even notice. Either that, or what they're changing doesn't affect. But the idea of Democracy - the people controlling the government and the economy - is a good idea, it just didn't work. Socialism, on the other hand is a good idea and works in practice. Redistribution of wealth, free health care and college - this all works and can be kept up long-term. That's why I'm a Socialist. I can appreciate the ideas and theories of other systems of government, I just don't support them.
