Yesterday, at 8:30, I woke up to the scariest text message I've ever read in my entire life.

"I just had to sprint out of the library because there was a shooter in the building."

It was from my friend Cat, who had gone to campus early to study in the PCL (Perry Casteneda Library). She and all the other students in the building were ordered to ( Read more... )

Oh my gosh. I am SO GLAD that you're okay. (This week just seems to be total shit for colleges across the nation - one of our students took his own life because his roommate taped him having sex with another guy without his permission and posted it online.) If there's anything I can do, let me know. I know that it's over, but that's seriously scary, and I'm so glad that you and everybody else at your school is okay.

I read about that in the paper - is anything happening to the roommate? What he did has to be illegal.

I'm doing okay, thank you. :] We're slowly getting back into the routine of living. There's a major football game between UT and OU (one of our biggest rivals) this weekend, so I think that will help get things back to normal.

Thanks for texting me, btw, it really made me smile. :]

I'm glad it cheered you up. I could tell something was bothering you, and even if you weren't feeling up to talking about it, I was hoping I could brighten your day.

Yes, the roommate and the other person involved are under investigation by police. They'll probably be charged with either third or fourth degree invasion of privacy. The third degree comes with a prison term of up to five years. One of his friends organized a vigil to be held tomorrow in his honor, and so far, over 1,000 people are attending.

Hopefully you do get back to normal soon, but just remember that I'm always here for you if you need somebody. <3
