Water + Vehicle = Sploosh

Sep 05, 2007 11:20

Let me start off by saying that my weekend with Tom was great. I loved every minute of it. He got me some cute new shoes, took me out to eat a lot, spoiled me, and did lots and lots of cuddling. It was great and really reinforced my love for him and our relationship. I can't wait until we begin to take the next steps in our relationship. I ( Read more... )

OH NO. I'm so sorry to hear that. But I'm glad you are okay. I don't really have much to say in terms of car advice but you've just reminded me how quickly an accident can happen, I mean I think I'm careful but sometimes you never know, or there's nothing you can do. It also reminds me how other people driving like crap can cause an accident. *HUGS* I hope you get a pretty new shiny car. I have a Ford Escort ZX2 and I really like it- it's 8 years old but it's been a great car.

Thankies! Sorry it took me nearly a week to respond (I have been avoiding el jay and real life because that wreck really threw me into a depression).

The biggest advice I had received is do your research before you buy, which I have been doing. Now to do more so that I definitely won't get screwed ^^

*ahem* I am THE Jay, not El Jay. I <3 you too and I'm glad to hear that at least you're okay. I'm sorry to hear about the car and I hope you get an awesome new rad one and I hope that jerk who caused your car's demise meets karma at the hands of one of those car carrier things, like a car accidentally falls on his on a highway, causing loads of confusion and monetary damage.

Heheh el jay = LJ. You are THE Jay <3

Hopefully he just feels horribly guilty at seeing a car swerve around on the highway and almost kill the driver and passenger. Just a little bit of guilt would be nice ^_~

You have full coverage don't you? I can't imagine how much they will give you but if you want to go brand spanking new, talk to your bank about how much of a loan you could get and what the APR would be. You can often times get better rates than the dealer could give you.

I think I will go to the bank first, since I am sure the dealer is out to get as much money from me as he can, and my bank would be sooner to approve me for a decent interest rate. I am probably gonna go used, since it is senseless to pay 2 years for something that will be used and old by the time you pay it off. Might as well get used and newish now so I pay way less ^^

Well check both. MCT Credit Union offered us something decent, like 4.8% or whatever, but Toyota credit was able to go lower. You never know!

I still stand by my financially-less-intelligent decision to buy new. At least I know the maintenance and driving history when my car only has 2 miles on it.

The same thing happened to me yesterday, minus the wet road and the hydroplaning and the sploosh.

But seriously, what kind of idiot cuts directly in front of you and right behind someone going like half his speed?

It's the same kind of idiot that causes vehicular accidents. Or the ones that are too fucking stupid to see that the velocity of the left lane isn't the same as you want to go. Morons morons morons.

I did do all that, and they offered me a nice, comparable price for my vehicle (offered 6.8K minus a 500 deductible to total out at 6.3K. My car was worth 6.1-6.9K for fair to excellent condition at the private property value). I am probably gonna go pre-owned for the reasons you listed plus the fact that I would like certain features that would only make buying a new car even MORE expensive (I <3 leather, but will probably buy a vehicle with material seats and have it replaced with leather).

I have someone that will function as my cosigner. I am not so sure about my credit rating; despite me consistently paying off my debt, it might still be a year away before it's back to good standing.

$8000 for your Civic? How long ago was the wreck and what was the condition of your car? That's pretty awesome, imo o.o

Sweet, I hope you get something nice. My Civic was a 2001 that I bought brand new, and I lost it in April. The apartment complex I was living in at the time didn't clean out its storm drains propely, and when we had a torrential downpour, my entire parking lot filled up with water. If I'd been sitting in my car it would've come up to my waist. Thankfully, since the claims agent could see that, until the flood, my car had been in excellent condition, he was quite generous with the amount they were willing to pay. Hondas and Acuras tend to keep their value up for a while.

Unfortunately, I did lose my check book and my MP3 player in the flood, which my insurance wouldn't cover, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Oooooh, so you had an excellent condition car. Good job! Mine was obviously fair-good condition, so I made out rather well, imo.

Ugh, I am sure there was some loophole that states "we will not cover anything cool that you thought we were gonna cover because of this fine print right here ......."

I have been taking a look at Corollas and Civics, though Corollas look to be cheaper than Civics o.O I am looking for a 2004/2005 and something with between 40-60K miles on it. I only wish there were some Subaru dealers around so that I could get a sweet Subaru XD
