I go to Philpott Ford (preowned) and find a cute '05 Scion xA in black. 47K miles with a big cigarette burn on the roofing and a cracked vanity tail light. Listed at 13.9K. WAY TOO MUCH. Well, I get suckered into their tricks and sign the car off for 12.6K. The kbb.com price lists it at 11.5K or so (give or take a hundred). I obviously fell for the tricks and bought the car for way too much.
I drive it around, and it ends up having more problems. The driver's side door automatic locks don't work. I didn't notice the lack of cruise control. To top it off, the AC was stuck on bilevel no matter what setting I put it at. WTF
Bank calls Monday and tells me that I paid too much ("Yeah, I know >.<"). She says that I can step out of the car and get my money back by them denying the loan. I went that route
( ... )
FFS, they tried to run you around big time. Of course you had no way to know that offhand. When I bought my car, I played stupid and let Lane do the haggling. It's a sad truth, but men will more often than not get a good deal and women will get screwed.
I really don't know what to tell you. That place just down the overpass on 365 is where I bought my last car and dad bought a few cars. They seem fair enough and the cars are good enough. I'd recommend after this experience that you look, find what you like, go home and research it first, then go back to buy.
I'm sure you're going foreign, but under no circumstances go to Classic Chevrolet. They will screw you over in a heartbeat.
