So I've been working on wedding ideas. I'm working on a tight budget (who isn't these days?) and I put together a few ideas for John, so he could decide what he does and doesn't want to go with. Linens can get expensive, that is my only caution
Don't I know it. :-/ A lot of it will depend on where I choose for my location, but I've heard in the long run, for a smaller wedding things like plates and napkins are cheaper to buy than rent. Plus, then you have the plates and napkins. This might be one of the first things I cut for cost though. Because really, who remembers the color of the plates at the last wedding they went to? I do like those clear red plates though. Might see what IKEA has to offer. :)
Idea: If you're still having trouble with your dress, you and John could try to emulate a favorite movie couple
I've been working really hard designing my own dress, but after working a lot of this out with John and my mom, I don't know how much it will match anymore. We'll see.

Time to set up, prep, etc for these ideas should be taken into consideration. Amy and I had a couple things we had to throw by the wayside when we ran out of time.

You are not obligated to have an open bar. Wine and beer should be sufficient, especially for a smaller guest list. In the meantime, have you tried vanilla vodka with Dr. Pepper? Very sweet and fizzy -- might be a good compromise.

To me that is at least better than people sitting at their tables being bored. I'm so worried people are going to be bored at my wedding. I'm always bored at weddings. :-P
