So Disappointed...

Recently, I have been totally into Twilight crossovers, either with Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Harry Potter. I've been reading this one on another sight for the last few weeks which was a Twilight/HP/Charmed crossover. It wasn't the best story ever, but it was decent enough for me to watch for updates and keep up with the story. Anyway, yesterday the writer posted the final chapter, and she killed of Harry! I might not have minded but there had been no warnings for character death at all. I'm not usually a fan of character death fics, and unless it's an author I really like, I avoid them. My life has enough drama as it is, I don't want to read a lot of angst and death fics in my spare time.

It actually ruined the fic for me. The writer had just had the characters to a point where it seemed like they had made it passed all their hardships, and Edward and Harry would be able to live Happily ever after, and then bam! He's dead. And that was that. Now, I do understand that it is the writer's choice what happens in their own fics, and I have no plans of blasting the writer for killing off a main character. I just wish he/she would have put a character death warning in the summary so that I wouldn't feel so blindsided now.

Truth be known, I'll probably make a point of avoiding that writer's fics from now on.

Man, I really take this stuff personally, huh?

Okay, time to change the subject. My fortieth birthday was this last week! I was actually pretty excited, although I'm not sure why. lol  My co-workers got me a cake and a card. I can't believe my manager, though. Apparently she didn't get me the card until that morning which was fine, but since one of my co-workers had that day off and never had a chance to sign it, she actually forged his signiture and the little saying that was supposedly from him. What the heck? I can't figure out why she would do that. It's not like Brandon hadn't already wished me happy birthday while we were leaving work the night before, and I think I'm old enough not to be upset that someone didn't have a chance to sign my card. I'm sure she meant well, but it just seems a little messed up. Most of my other co-workers totally figured out what she'd done before I'd even received my card because they recognized her writing when they saw "his" signiture.

My family had a nice family party for me last weekend since I had to work both Saturday and Sunday this week. We had Chinese food (yum!) and double chocolate brownies since I'm not a huge cake fan. My sister teased me about what I wanted this year; she asked if she was buying gifts for her big sister or her 10 year old son. I don't know where she got that unless it was because I asked for 2 different video games for my DS, an itunes giftcard, hand-held weights, and a couple of chairs for my back patio. lol. I guess she decided she get me the "mature" gifts and got me two chairs for my patio. They were these really nice ones I saw at costco a couple of weeks ago, and they're perfect; they match the table I already had back there exactly. My mom and dad actually got me the video games I asked for (one was from my son, but they actually purchased it), and a gift card for Macy's. No giftcard for itunes, I guess I'll have to break down and get one myself because I'm almost out of credit again. :)

One kind of weird thing happened on my birthday. My son's father, whom we haven't seen in five and a half years, sent me a five lb bar of chocolate from Hershey's. It was even personalized. It said, "Happy 40th, Dave." Now, we've had very little contact with him in all this time; in fact, they only contact has been in the last two years when he all of a sudden started sending cards and checks on Matthew's birthday and Christmas. So it's pretty strange receiving a birthday gift from him.

Anyway, that's about all I've got to say for now. Have a good week everyone!
