Had a really wonderful time watching the DNC tonight at our beautiful old downtown theater. I won 5 tickets to go see Barack Obama later this weekend.
Came home and found my beloved cat dead, suddenly. We had no prior warning that he wasn't doing well. Came in to find cat poop near the front door, which Cupcake discovered. She was talking

Aw, I'm sorry to hear about your cat - that's sad. Did your daughter understand what happened?

Yes and no. At first she was saying we could just take him to the vet. Then after she got that dead was dead, she said, "But we can be can be happy, because we still have one cat!" And several times she said we should just go to the pet store and find another black cat and name him Beo. I said if we got another cat, we would give him another name. She thinks we should just replace him. So, no, she doesn't really get it yet. She doesn't seem sad over it at all.

Are the tickets related to the same thing you e-mailed me about regarding going out Monday instead of Sunday? (I'd thought you'd sent the e-mail before the DNC thing last night.)

No clue. I guess we'll probably never know.

Yes, they're for the same event. One of the local Obama team called me up yesterday and offered me VIP tickets. (Otherwise it's general admisssion). I said we'd take two. Then at the DNC event they were having a contest. If you made phone calls to lists they provided, whoever made the most connections would get 5 free tickets. So for the first hour or so, partly while I was waiting for my family to get there and while things weren't really interesting yet, I made calls. And they gave 5 tickets to the top 5 callers, of which I was one. So I gave one ticket to my congregant who was also making calls, one to mom, one to sister, and two for us. But we probably can still get those two tickets that Ryan-the-Obama guy said he'd hold for us. Do you wanna go, if so?
