Or if you are, but, like me, just can't stop yourself from reading more...

Here are three good articles.

1. This Is Your Nation on White Privilege by Tim Wise

2. Can You Say "Sexist"? by Anna Quindlen

3.  Sarah Palin's Myth of America by Joe Klein

I'm putting these here because I keep wanting to refer back to these three in particular, and I keep ( Read more... )

As far as I can tell, both links went to the Tim Wise blog, which I wholly disagree with. I found him offensive for his condescending general assumptions about what white people and, therefore, what I think.

Ok, thanks!

On the Quindlen article, I agree about the hypocritical way in which Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin have been treated. However, that's politics-as-usual and, as far as I'm concerned, something both sides are guilty of doing for various issues. I don't find it surprising that the Republican Party is no longer advocating women staying home - a very high percentage of women work these days and a good number of them are bound to be Republican. Society has changed over the past 20-30 years and so have the parties. The Republican Party is no longer all about fiscal conservatism and the Democratic Party is no longer all about the welfare state. Those are descriptions of the parties 20-30 years ago - ancient history.

On the Klein article: I'm hoping to make my decision based on substance, which is why I'm waiting for the debates.
