I posted a high-praising and somewhat lengthy anon comment over at the kink meme but this deserves another comment (because I simply cannot get it out of my head).

Creating the skewed timeline and somehow bringing it back to the altered "reality" we're familiar with is just brilliant. When Andy comes into the picture, it brought Pawnee and the show back into my mind.... I became so enthralled in these versions of characters (who can seriously hold their own in a film... I felt like this entire fic would work as a film), I forgot the root of inspiration for them :)

And thanks for posting it here... I can easily add this to Memories now!

Holy cow, what an amazing fic! You're just a brilliant writer and this is so full and angst and hotness and sweetness and longing and I just loved it. Great, great writing right here.

Bittersweet! Although, to be fair, more bitter than sweet...

I love that April never forgot how she felt about Andy, before everything went wrong because Ann kissed him. And how Andy never gave up on April. And how, despite everything, Ben is the one who made them come together at the end.

And the hope that flowed through Ben at the end... awesome.

Ben was actually darker than I would've thought he could be here, but April summed it up perfectly, with her "...asshole in Pawnee..." comment.

Bravo!

I can't properly tell you how this is everything I wanted from an April/Ben story, and it's maybe my favorite thing you've ever written (though that might be because it's April/Ben and I never thought I'd actually get ANY April/Ben, and as you keep on with Snapshots and Patchwork Heart, they will probs vie back and forth for the title), but this is absolutely aces. ACES.

Like I told you, the pacing of this is absolutely perfect and so very in character and DAMN IT I WISH I'D THOUGHT OF THIS AU IDEA and it's just, man. I actually love it. The bruises on her hips are beautiful. LIKE A KNIFE. Amazing, and yes, and amazing, and yes.

The part I loved best is Ben tying her to the chair. Their screwed up relationship is escalating, but that's the thing that actually flips a switch and brings them closer. (Also- hot!)

But it's too late really because Andy is coming and I want to be happy for April and Andy, but I'm also sad for Ben. :(

And Ben can feel that final piece of her puzzle slide into place with a deafening click.
And he can’t help but wish he’d never solved her.

Oh man. Just wonderful.

Oh thank you. I'm glad that translated so well. Yeah in my head that's the point where Ben and April stop being quite so much about their own self-loathing and start being just about enjoying the other person a bit. For me, after that, as things in Snerling started to wind down, he was doing things like mentally making a note to go buy a comfortable chair for his apartment to tie her to on rainy Saturdays. He was intending to 'keep' her and I think April was intending to be kept, and I think Andy was the only thing that could have changed that. And so that's what makes it so heartbreaking for all three of them when it happens with the timing (and yet oddly really great ( ... )
