Ugh! I both hate and love this at the same time. Love because it's amazing and smart and insightful and fantastic, and hate because I really need these two to hook up already!

And is it wrong that I sort of want Ben to end up with Lindsay? You've done so much with that character, I really, really love it.

Ah, Patchwork Heart, how I've missed you! To me, non of the struggle showed around the edges, it was just another fascinating foray into the head of a young Ben Wyatt. And speaking of... this to me truly shows what this thing with Lindsay is all about: Lindsay’s become this conduit for every emotion he doesn’t want to be having, like he can let his worst pieces out with her, all his anger and confusion and want, and when he goes back to the rest of his life he’s somebody better, nicer, less frayed at the edges.

Lindsay is such the anti-Leslie and, for now, I think that Ben needs her very much, and that this dalliance (I refuse to write "relationship") is very good for him.

So I might've screamed out of excitement when I saw that you'd updated this. :D AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. If you had any struggles writing this, it doesn't show. I particularly loved the 4th of July bit. Also, I really like this chapter for the way you wrote Ben and his relationship with Lindsay.

So glad you kept the 4th of July bit, it gives me goosebumps :) And I really, really appreciate the way you flesh out Lindsay and you don't judge her in your writing. It's fascinating and Ben's relationship with her is so twisted and yet so necessary for him. So happy you haven't given this up; it continues to be stunning.
