Dear Gideon,
I've heard it said that a day in which you learn nothing new is wasted. I think that's crap but if it's true, I have not been wasting my days at all, lately. Here's a few of them:
1. There is, in fact, a price that will get me to go back to Montevalno.
2. That price has nothing to do with money.
3. Running away from your problems only makes things worse. Who knew?
4. Serving two masters sucks. You need to get the total up to four or five to really make it interesting.
5. Shouting at nightmares doesn't keep them from coming back no matter how long our loud you do it. It does, however, earn you a raft of new nicknames from your crew.
6. The triple threat of extra work, shortened leave, and docked pay makes those who repeat the nicknames do so a lot more quietly.
7. Being the one coming home is better than being the one waiting.
Do you like your new book? I could trim the edges in gilt or silver. Shut up.
