Dear Gideon - What I did in Montevalno

Written in a dark blue, pocket-sized, leatherbound notebook with an embossed dragon on the cover. It was found in a sharkskin pouch. The text has been written in more than one alphabet and has been heavily encrypted.

Dear Gideon,

I'm sorry I didn't write sooner but I'm just back from Montevalno. It was an eventful trip.

Things I went to Montevalno with

1. The Coda
2. Arabella
3. A price on my head
4. Several crates of spices, silks, and ores to be traded on my next trip to Begma.

Things I returned from Montevalno with

1. The Coda
2. Arabella
3. A price on my head
4. A Stowaway
5. A piece of a pier
6. Another price on my head
7. An upgrade from "Annoyed" to "Loathed" on the Princess Hate Scale.

Notice that I traded Item #4 from the first list for Items 4 - 7 from the second list. This is what we in the "trade biz" often refer to as a "good deal". Of course, it's only a good deal if you can get something for the newly-acquired items. I don't hold out much hope.

The stowaway turns out to be handy with a knife. She should fit in well with all the other women I know.

With regards to my previous entry: Being the one coming home is definitely better than being the one waiting but only when there's actually someone waiting. For the first time ever, someone was.
