Dear Gideon - Busy Week

Written in a dark blue, pocket-sized, leatherbound notebook with an embossed dragon on the cover. It was found in a sharkskin pouch. The text has been written in more than one alphabet and has been heavily encrypted.

Dear Gideon,

The past week has been busy and most of my activity has been on land, for a change. The only sailing I've done lately has been to take The Ten of Swords out for another run but this was just a patrol around Amber. She still handles like a dream. A good dream. Not the kind where you don't have pants on and everybody's laughing at you.

Wedding stuff is moving along. Godfrey agreed to perform the ceremony which also takes care of the 'where' part. Addison will be my best man which seems to be surprising some people. What? Friends can't almost punch each other?

The planning for this thing is kinda fun. Shut up.

I also talked to Nellie the same day I met with Addison and Godfrey. I'm glad we talked. She and I may be coming to an understanding on some business matters. Too soon to say.

However, meeting with these three people back-to-back-to-back meant kind of a lot of drinking. Especially the talk with Addison which went late into the night and killed a very expensive bottle of whiskey. I made it onto The Apple (with flowers, even!) somehow. My memory of the early-morning hours is pretty hazy but nobody seems to be angry at me so I guess everything worked out fine.

Dinah and I are going back to Minos to talk to her family and handle some other pre-wedding matters. She's the only member of that side of her family who likes me much at all. She's got a big family. This is gonna go well.

On the business side, I've got more offers than I can handle. Turns out not needing to use shadowpaths has its advantages.

There are trips to Montevalno, Alhambra, Kitezh, and Cibola on the schedule.

Interesting times, Gideon.

P.S. Some clients will pay you even when you don't do the job. Hang around more with these people.
