Remembrance of Joy

Considering how sh*tty things have been lately, it's difficult to think of anything Joyful (future or present) to share. So the best I can do is share a joyful memory or two.

Back in the 80's when I was still (lovingly) known as "lil shit" my single Mother and I were living in a low income housing complex. We had no cable. No TV. No VCR. Not ( Read more... )

I grew up with Fleetwood Mac and Don Henley and Dr Hook... and a lot of Pink Floyd. Maybe that explains a lot *g*

It just might esplain a few things alright. I was 12 before we finally got a car with FM in it... then we used to go for long drives and sing!

Mom still has her collection, and I *still* listen to the same songs I did when I was a kid.

Awwww, that is a good memory. I listened to Dr. Hook with my mom, too!

This whole post made me smile. Thank you, Cyse!

Aw, I love these memories AND the way you describe them! And it reminds me of my own very prised little portable record player of childhood. I was glued to that thing, whether it was playing Beatles, Floyd, Paul Simon or Alice in Wonderland and the Wind in the Willows. Thanks for reminding me of this!

*sends you long distance hug*

I had a little portable player too! It was red plastic and the speakers slid out. Tough little machine as it was frequently used for more than spinning records...lol

*smoosh*

Some of my best childhood memories involve my old record player, my parents' reel-to-reel tape deck (I could thread that thing by myself by the time I was 5), and my mom's collection of Fleetwood Mac; The Mama's And The Papa's; The Eagles; Creedence Clearwater Revival; etc; oh and of course my story records :D I still love that old music and listen to it often. :D Still have a lot of the old records too!

Unfortunately my story records ended up being a little to *roughly* loved. But they served admirably. Ooooo CCR. *checks collection*
