OMG Batman...

A customer just brought in a Tandy 1000 RLX Hard Drive. Aka: a computer that is so old that it advertises actually having a hard drive (41mb at that!). Damn. Now, I worked on these things in the day and I remember them. I didn't think any of them were still alive. This one, however, works fine and still runs Tandy's Deskmate software.

And you ( Read more... )

hey, I got a car question for you. Would not having anti-freeze in my resevoir (and possibly my radiator, I suppose) keep the fan system from blowing hot air into the car? The temperature gauge goes up to half-way, but it blows either cold or lukewarm air.

Will filling the resevoir fix this?

It could fix it. basically, not having enough coolant is a bad thing. Top off your radiator (if you can, some new cars won't let it open) and fill your res. to the indicated line. Run the car for a while, and re-fill the resevoir. If it still blows cold, you may need a new heater core. If it drains (aka: the coolant level keeps dropping even though you're adding enough) it could be leaking out of the heater core onto the ground or onto the passenger floor of the car (depending).

Be careful not to overfill it though... when the car is warm and the engine is running, the reservoir *should* be emptier than when the car is cold/off (because the antifreeze goes into the radiator when it's running and returns to the reservoir when it's off). If you put too much in, the antifreeze will leak out of the reservoir (if you're lucky); it could also cause a pressure explosion as the warm antifreeze goes into the cool reservoir and if there's no room for the pressure to go, you might lose the reservoir cap or worse.
