The spawn of my cross-alley neighbor were out playing kick-ball with a muddy soccer ball. Typical to today's uneducated, unsupervised, and undisciplined spawn, they were not watching what they were doing. They kicked their soccer ball onto the hood of my brand new car. Do you know if they actually informed their parents? I'm not making excuses for anyone, it's just that it's not clear from your story whether the lack of follow-through came from the kids or the parents.

If they did tell the parents, then I would have a respectful words with said adults about lessons. Basically, a polite 'here's what I think your kids can do to make amends, what do you think?' talk. If you include the parents, and indicate it is assumed they will do their job, you may get some results. It won't fix the car, but it's a start.

Gods know i'd have to make some kind of restitution if i had done something like this. Even if it was "just" pulling weeds from the garden all summer or something like that. Things just aren't how they used to be (part of why i didn't continue teaching) when we were young in most families or communities. More's the pity.

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't bother telling their parents.

Perhaps a mentioning to the parental units? As people go, they don't seem completely horrible; you might get some result out of it.

I totally agree that America is going to hell. Kids are raised today without any kind of responsibility and having no responsibility, they don't care about anything that is not theirs. They are unlikely to have told their parents, that would have been the responsible thing to do.

As far as breeding, intelligent people are not having kids, or just having one, while all the trailer trash are breeding like rabbits. So the IQ of America is falling like a rock with each generation. Someone has to put a stop to it.
