I think there's the social side, too, though. Anyone with the internet can learn that dairy is obtained through systematic sexual assault of non-human animals...but the fact that people choose to ignore that reality of dairy is, to me, very telling.

(I think we met off veganpeople but) This is absolutely disgusting. Have you read The Politics of Meat? This reminds me of that, but rather than just direct people to read a book an entire book they probably won't agree with, I can just direct people here. Well done!

I'm really glad that you posted this and I'm even more glad you've decided to adopt a vegan lifestyle, Julie.

This entry makes me hear "Feminists, Don't Have a Cow" by Punch in my head, too, haha.

Oh, and because you're so articulate and this is so concise, I'm probably going to reblog this through my LiveJournal and Tumblr. Is that cool?

How the fuck are you doing?! Great post, by the way; very insightful. I'm not a vegan, but that isn't an option for me right now (when your options are eat what we cook or starve, most consider the latter to be a bit harsh) but its certainly made me aware of some things I had no idea about before. So many unfortunate practices in the corporate food industry. Anyway the past few years have been absurd. We should catch up. Add?
