As I’m writing my EE I keep wanting to use the word “maleffect”, but apparently, it’s not a word (I think I just made it up “malefactor”) so I have to use things like “adverse side effects” and “undesirable consequences” and basically stuff like that.

So anyway, is there a English word that can be used to mean "unwanted side effects"?
