Hey guys I need some help. Okay so in the beginning of the school year I had this long college list of places I was wanted to apply to, and now that list has diminished greatly. I'm no longer applying to BU because I hated it. I don't think I'm applying to NYU because I don't think I'll go there since I don't really wanna be in the middle of NYC ( Read more... )

WISCONCIN<33333.

Yeah, see I wanna do that but college applications are SO time-consuming. I rather spend time making a really good application for somewhere I really wanna go to then spending time on one where I know I din't want to go to, know what I mean? Where are you applying Blake? Are you still planning on going to UF?

I'm having a similar problem, though with me I need to add schools to my list that I actually have a good chance of getting into. And I really don't want to even apply to FSU, because I'd never be willing to go there.

yeah same here. But it's not only that. I mean, I'm scared UF is the only school I'll get into. What if I hate it there? I went to a Killian football game on Friday and the thought of going to UF wih all those people (you know most of them from Greenfield) makes me want to shoot myself. Social life is a big factor for me and I feel as if I'm never gonna fit in there.

Ahh please don't tell me that about "those people". I'm trying to keep UF in as good a light as possible.

Actually what I'm most afraid of is if I don't get into UF. The schools I applied to have a good chance of rejecting me, so I want to at least have a safe school I'd feel comfortable in. But I wouldn't worry about the people so much. While I'm sure that Brown would have a greater percentage of dedicated students, I'm sure that UF has all types of people there. There's bound to be someone you get along just fine with. And if we both end up there, at the very least we'll have friends. :)

you have an EXCELLENT chance of getting into GW. I'm applying to the Honors College and i'm confident about being accepted there. What about UNC- Chapel Hill? It's one of the best public schools in the country and supposedly the campus is beautiful.

I get what you're saying about UF. I'm not a fan of the social scene there because i have no desire to be in a sorority in college and sports are such a huge thing there-- and i could care less about sports. Plus, it's landlocked and I can't deal with being that far from a body of water. No sailing, no crew.

Even if you don't get into the Ivies like you want to, you WILL get into GW. And if that doesn't pan out, you can always transfer from UF after your freshman year.

Yeah but I haven't heard great things about GW lately :-/. I've been told that many people get in simply because they're rich and they can afford it and their parents who are in government pull strings. I don't wanna go to school with a buncha stuck-up rich kids. Of course, this can be completely wrong.

I got a very different impression when I was there. I did a tour of each campus and both times I had a really down-to-earth guide, one of whom had 75% of her tuition covered by financial aid. And you're going to have the same case with any prestigious private school. It's probably worse at schools like Cornell. Also, if you look into all their financial aid info, they have an insane number of scholarships for students and all sorts of deals to make it more affordable-- like fixed tuition and a guarantee that your financial aid package wil only get better instead of going down after freshman year. One of the main reasons I began liking GW over Northwestern is because the people there seemed so much more friendly.
