You know, my Dad swears he read somewhere that one of the founders of quantum admitted he really didn't know. (Dad went into aerospace, so his tolerance for quantum's limited--he thinks the guys with the cyclotrons are really just interested in seeing whether, if they hit a particle with a big enough "hammer", they can make it into even smaller particles. He's exagerating but sometimes, like when you're reading about so-called "missing particles", you gotta wonder...)

Heights. That's a good one. Though I've discovered for me it's not so much the heights as the climbing to get to them. Spiders and I have reached a detente--they stay outside where they belong, I don't squash them into unrecognizeable goo.

Quantum was made up in a sense. Schoedinger made up an equation that when used happened to fit the evidence available. This drove me crazy in class.
