i once read (or heard, i cant remember which) that anime charatcers are supposedly what japan thinks america wants to look like. which would explain why not too many anime characters look particularly japanese. the thing that makes them attractive i guess would be the eyes. they say babies have big eyes to evoke a response from the parents not to kill the baby when it cries so much. big eyes are cute and almost all anime characters have HUGE eyes and huge well you know :-P (BOOBIES!!!!!!!!!) anyway, that may explain it or im just rambling out of my ass like usual.
