Up here in Massachusetts every April theres a metalfest thats very similiar to the European ones like Wakken and stuff with all just black and death metal bands. Ive seen In Flames, Opeth, Dimmu, Nile, Shadows Fall, etc etc and all those great bands along side smaller bands and local black and death metal. 2 Stages and its 2 days long

FROM WHAT I KNOW GLENN DANZIG IS TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER A TOUR LIKE THAT CALLED BLACKEST OF THE BLACK, WHERE IT WOULD BE REAL DEATH AND BLACK METAL BANDS. HE TRIED TO GET MARDUK TO COME TO THE STATES TO OPEN FOR HIM ON HIS LAST TOUR BUT THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED INTO THE COUNTRY. IN FACT, MY TICKET STILL SAYS "DANZIG/MARDUK" ON IT, WHICH SUCKED CAUSE I HAVE LOVED MARDUK SINCE 96, AND THE ONE TIME THEY DID PLAY IN AMERICA I WAS IN EUROPE! HOWS THAT FOR BAD TIMING?!?! ACTUALLY WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT, THE BANDS YOU MENTIONED GET LOTS OF EXPOSURE IN THE STATES, JUST NOT IN PLACES LIKE ROLLING STONE, SPIN OR CIRCUS. THERE ARE A BUNCH OF GREAT MAGS LIKE PIT, SOUNDS OF DEATH AND UNRESTRAINED!(FROM CANADA). METAL IS UNDERGROUND AND IT SHOULD STAY THAT WAY. REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE GREAT THRASH BANDS OF THE 80'S WHEN THE MAJOR LABELS SWOOPED IN? THEY ALL STARTED TO SUCK. AND A BIG PART OF THAT WAS THE LABELS-NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO MARKET EXTREME MUSIC TO MAINSTREAM FOLKS(IF IT WAS POSSIBLE AT ALL), GETTING THE BANDS TO WATERDOWN THEIR

They get like no video exposure though. CoF was impossible to get ahold of anything here for awhile, granted now that they are with Sony Europe they are finally getting more exposure.

As far as Dimmu, Nile, Bathory..etc...You can't even find t-shirts or anything of them here. Graned Dimmu did finally put out that double length dvd though. Can't find that anywhere either here though..I'm going to have to order it online..*shrugs*.

REALLY? IVE SEEN CRADLE'S STUFF IN REGULAR RECORD STORES FOR YEARS, ONLY THEIR FIRST 2 CDS ARE A LITTLE HARDER TO FIND. BUT THATS THE UNDERGROUND-YOU ARE GONNA HAVE TO DIG TO FIND WHAT YOU WANT, WHICH IS BETTER THAN BEING FORCE-FED THE LIKES OF AVRIL LAVIGNE. THINGS ARE A LOT BETTER NOW THOUGH, I REMEMBER BACK IN 95/95 THE SCENE WAS FUCKING DEAD, REALLY BAD. CLUBS WOULD ONLY DO SHOWS ON SUNDAYS CAUSE METAL SHOWS DIDNT BRING IN A LOT OF MONEY/PEOPLE... NO SHOWS/TOURS HAPPENING FOR MONTHS...I ONCE SAW SUFFOCATION PLAY TO A CROWD OF 20 PEOPLE(IT WAS ALSO BARELY PROMOTED)..BUT YOU GET THE IDEA...SO COMPARED TO THEN IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE METAL IS HUGE AND ALL OVER THE PLACE, HELL I EVEN HEARD DEEDS OF FLESH GET PLAYED AT SOME MTV EXTREME SPORTS FEST...MORBID ANGEL OPENING FOR PANTERA....PEOPLE DIDNT EVEN THINK OF SHIT LIKE THAT....AND ANSELMO WASNT MR. UNDERGROUND LIKE HE IS (OR THINKS HE IS) NOW...I GUESS WE JUST DISAGREE, CAUSE THE UNDERGROUND TO ME IS DOING GREAT, THE BANDS ARE GETTING BETTER, MORE TOURS, BIGGER TOURS....I DONT SEE
