It's a good question, I really don't use mine for much more than following a couple of groups.

Every time I think about using LJ for personal writing, some burst of idiocy comes up through the muck and makes me question that idea.

You could set up custom groups of friends.

You'd be surprised how entertaining daily anecdotes can be to both your friends, and to your future self looking back. I always look forward to your posts, man. Take care.
