Wendsday was when we saw Kensington Park, Kensington Palace, and the Tower of London - along with a few other things.
Evening, 4/11/2007, Wendsday
Today it was Kensington Park, Kensington Palce, and the Tower of London.
In the Park, saw the Princess Diana Memorial Playground, and the Elfin Tree (has to be seen to be believed).
Walked Around the exterior of Kensington Palace.
Found a sculpture of Queen Victoria; it had been done by her daughter.
Got away from the Park after 12.
Headed to Tower.
Ate lunch @ "Eat," right next to the Tower.
Had highly amusing and very excellent guide for our tour of the Tower Gates & Chapel. "Executions!" - heh. He was a very entertaining retired-Vet Cockney; had a real nice and dramatic way of presenting the history of the Tower. Had a (highly entertaining) thing for executions. But his best performance had nothing to do with them; it was about a haunted step going into the Chapel. He first warned the ladies about it; took him two minutes, and assured them he would be standing by to catch them if they fell. Then he warned the men: "Men, there's a haunted step just inside the door. It may try to trip you. I plan on being very busy catching young ladies; so if you fall, it's gonna hurt." Heh. Couldn't all guides be something like this? :-D
Saw Crown Jewels (Holy Sparkles, Batman!), Saw the Curtana (Forgot that was here).
Investigated Medieval Palace and South Wall.
Checked out Whitehall- was semi-chased out at 5:30pm, from the part about the Gunpowder Plot.
Ate near Tower - meh.
Very Tired, came back top Apollo for restful evening.
Grandma tiring more easily than in Normandy.
Still game though.
Tomorrow: Imperial Museum (aka British Museum). Wrong! The Imperial War Museum was not the same place as the British Museum. Glad I went to the British Museum.
Also: Getting Tickets for Phantom!!
Kensington Park, Palace, and the Elfin Tree!
