As of Veterans Day 2014, Bill Wynne still lives in the Greater Cleveland area and is now 94 years old.

Here's an article about Smokey from Australia, with a photo of a memorial to Smokey on the grounds of the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in Queensland Australia, where Smokey became the first therapy dog, entertaining troops from both sides, wounded during the battles in the South Pacific.
